A Quick and Well Deserved Pat on the Back
This is just a brief note to show a touch of respect for a couple of partisan hacks who decided to shed their hackery for a moment to promote a better good:

Chuck Rangel, Nancy Pelosi, you may not hear me say this again, but THANK YOU. Many of your peers are basking in the glow of the fact that Hugo Chavez has translated your normal talking points into Spanish in front of the UN and the New York poor. You, however, took the higher ground.

I know you normally mean to fuck-over folks like me, but your demonstrated fraternity with our President is refreshing.

Rangel:

"You don't come into my country, you don't come into my congressional district and criticize my president, " Rangel said from Capitol Hill.

He added that "it would be crazy to think that Americans do not feel offended" by Chavez's remarks.

You rock, sir.....this time. Please accept the humblest of thanks from one of your most vocal critics, as we all realize George Bush does NOT need the help of the likes of Chavez to look a fool.

I watched Charlies little news conference too, but before you nominate him for sainthood keep this in mind.

The reason Chavez has the balls to say what he says is precisely because of comments made by Rangel, Reid, Pelosi, etc etc...

I'd like to think he had a fleeting moment of common decency, but I sincerely doubt it.

I totally agree. They show the spirit in which Democrats can disagree with the president and unify with our country. It seems partisanship has gone overboard, and I'm happy to hear these comments (the video is available on youtube.com)

I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth, but you know me...if they don't keep it up, they're back in the shit house. Their sentiment was exactly right on this one. They are allowed to talk shit, that fucking lunatic Chavez is NOT.

It's all bullshit. Rangel was merely showboating. This is the same miserable fsck that said: "It's not spic and N[word] anymore. They say, 'Let's cut taxes.'"

In 1995, Charlie Rangel described a House Ways and Means vote that closed a tax loophole as being "just like under Hitler."

In June of 2005, Charlie Rangel said, "The Iraq war is the biggest fraud ever committed on the people of this country. This is just as bad as the six million Jews being killed." comparing the Iraq war to the Holocaust.

These have the balls to ask why Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad come to the United States and criticize this country and their president? Shit, they do it all the time. Fsck them.

AWB...it's a fascinating reaction akin to the parent who tells a teacher "I may beat my kid every day, but don't let me catch YOU smackin' him!" It's ok if I do it.

One thing I really don't understand is how a guy like Rangel gets so much support from low income dems when he shows up at every event in a $5,ooo suit, rolex and gold tie bar. He's not only a blatant opportunist along the lines of Sharpton and Jackson, he's a flat out nasty son of a bitch....

AWB- Let there be no question, Charlie Rangel is a twit, and Nancy Pelosi ranks right up there with pond scum on my list...but this was simply a hat-tip to them for saying the right things at the right time. They could have just as easily jumped on board with some of the other Bush-bashers and thrown a ticker tape parade for Chavez and President Tom. Regardless their motivation, they did go on the record, and very publicly denounced a man with whom they share many views, and I believe they deserve at least a moment's worth of respect for it. Everyone has their moments...

Tim- I hardly think that Bush is the "kid" and Rangel and Pelosi are the "abusive adults." I've seen Bush hold his own against those idiots for years...but they don't own Citgo...Chavez does. Chavez DEFINITELY is the "bigger bully" here, not necessarily bigger than Bush, but certainly bigger than the entire Democrat side of congress combined.
